The West Virginia State baseball team used two solid pitching performances to sweep a doubleheader against Notre Dame on Monday in Institute. The Yellow Jackets took the first game 6-2, before winning the nightcap 5-1.
In the first game, Josh Falbo fanned seven and allowed just two runs on five hits in seven innings to earn the win for State. Josh Kiser doubled in a run and Trenton Porter, Brett Strahin and Jon Cline each knocked in a run for the Yellow Jackets.
In the second game, State starter Tyler Hall scattered 10 hits and gave up just one run while striking out four in 8 1/3 innings to get the victory. Curtis Johnson struck out one to notch his third save of the season.
At the plate, Trenton Porer went 2 for 4 witha double, a home run and four RBIs and Jamison Jones and Trayvis Patterson each collected two hits for the Yellow Jackets (7-6, 3-1 Mountain East Conference).
State squares off against Shepherd in a doubleheader Friday at noon in Shepherdstown.
