Three Mountain East Conference men’s basketball teams are ranked among the top 13 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division II Poll, led by No. 1 West Liberty.
The Hilltoppers dropped their first game of the season Monday night at Concord 108-93 but the rankings only run through Sunday’s games. Fairmont State remains ranked No. 3 and Wheeling Jesuit made a big move up the rankings, going from 24 all the way to No. 13.
All three teams are tied for first place in the MEC with a 9-1 conference mark, and two of them face off on Thursday. West Liberty will be looking to rebound from its loss to Concord when the Hilltoppers go on the road to play their rival Wheeling Jesuit at 7:30 p.m.
WVU TECH MEN’S BASKETBALL
Ryan Atkins of WVU Tech, the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s leading scorer, averaged 27.3 points in three conference wins last week to take home KIAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors. The sophomore also earned the Player of the Week accolades for the United States Collegiate Athletic Association this week.

WVU Tech’s Terry Nance II was named this week’s USCAA Wrestler of the Week after going 4-0 at the Builder Invitational while taking the championship in the 197-pound weight class.
MARSHALL SWIMMING
Due to impending inclement weather potentially affecting both schools, Marshall University’s home swimming and diving meet against James Madison, originally scheduled for noon Saturday, has been moved ahead to 2 p.m. on Thursday.
