CHARLESTON, W.Va. - West Virginia State University men's basketball coach Bryan Poore announces the signing of three players to national letters of intent.
A pair of high school seniors, Frank Webb Jr. and Brent Bauer, and junior college guard Kenny Strong will join the Yellow Jackets in the fall.
Strong was a two-time first-team all-conference selection at Chaney High School in Youngstown, Ohio, and joins State after playing last season at Marshalltown Community College in Iowa.
"Kenny is an experienced shot maker who will be counted on to make an immediate impact," Poore said.
The 6-foot-3 wing player hit 42 percent of his 3-point attempts in high school and 39 percent his sophomore season at Marshalltown.
Webb, who Poore said "has the size to adapt to the college game immediately and play all three perimeter positions," averaged 11 points and 3.7 assists for Our Lady of Mount Caramel High in Baltimore, Md.
Poore says the 6-2 Webb "has the size to adapt to the college game immediately and play all three perimeter positions."
He averaged 11 points and 3.7 assists per game for Our Lady of Mt. Caramel High, which had the top-ranked prep team in Baltimore.
The 6-2 guard scored over 1,000 points in his high school career.
Bauer, a 5-10 point guard from Xenia, Ohio, "is a dynamic guard who is going to really excite our fans," Poore said. "His ball handling, vision, court awareness and passing skills are outstanding."
During his senior season, Bauer averaged 16.7 points, 3.8 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.7 steals on his way to being a first team allconference selection.
"We really like the way our recruiting has started and are excited to have Frank and Brent in the backcourt together for the next 4 years," Poore said.
