The normally potent West Virginia State offense ran into a stone wall Saturday afternoon in Athens.
The Yellow Jackets managed just 265 total yards in dropping a 52-7 decision to Concord in Mountain East Conference play. Concord improved to 4-5, while State dropped to 5-4.
After scoring the game's first points on a 32-yard pass from Matt Kinnick to Tyrell Henderson, the Yellow Jackets (5-4) went scoreless over the game's final 50 minutes.
Concord (5-5) sacked Kinnick five times and intercepted a pass in limiting him to 20 of 40 for 206 yards.
While the Yellow Jackets struggled, Concord piled up 490 offensive yards, led by Brian Novak's 295 passing yards and Calvinaugh Jones' 98 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Jamal Petty and Justin Cogar also had rushing scores for the Mountain Lions, while Jermail Douse, Tiko Henderson and Jones pulled in TD catches.
West Virginia State coach Jon Anderson said mistakes hurt his team.
"I think 21 of their first 28 points was through a turnover or a punt block,'' Anderson said. "You can't do that, and with a defense like that, they can pin their ears back and play solid defense the rest of the game. We didn't do a very good job in any phase of the football [game] here today. Give Coach Garin and his team credit. They played well today.
"[It's been] a very positive year for us. We've got an opportunity to have a winning season at 6-5. We've already had the most wins since 2008 at West Virginia State. Today's disappointing, because we need to be able to play more consistently. But we've got a great group of guys.''
Ervin Moore led Concord with 13 tackles, while Austin Dotson had 10.
Cade Rogers contributed a pair of sacks for the Mountain Lions.
The Yellow Jackets' defense was led by Mitchell Rowell's 10 tackles, with Jordan Pierce adding seven tackles and a forced fumble.
West Virginia Wesleyan 47, Virginia-Wise 21: A long season got a little better for the Bobcats as they earned their second behind a 574-yard offensive performance. Wesleyan improved to 2-8, while Wise slipped to 1-9.
Quarterback Luke Casey finished 23 of 39 for 317 yards and five TDs.
Michael Anderson paced the Bobcats' ground game with 146 rushing yards and a score. Zach Schademan pulled in two TD passes, while Seth Rogalski, Ross Kim and Jamale Myrick had one apiece.
Wise's Daniel Lewis passed for 205 yards, but was intercepted twice.
Notre Dame 47, Urbana 30: Malik Grove connected on 21 of 29 passes for 308 yards and five scores to lead Notre Dame to the road win. Notre Dame improved to 4-6, while Urbana dipped to 2-8.
Grove hooked up with Mitchell Shegos seven times for 170 yards and three scores.
Emmaunel Smith pulled in nine passes for 75 yards and two more scores.
Urbana quarterback Eric Pelfrey tossed for 230 yards and a score, but also threw three interceptions and was sacked eight times. ND's Antonio Echols had two and a half sacks, while Claudy Mathieu finished with two sacks.
Urbana's defense was paced by D'Gary Wallace, who finished with 27 tackles (13 solo).
Wallace's 27 tackles are the most recorded by a player in NCAA Division II this season.
