Four former University of Charleston student-athletes make up the 2017 class of the Golden Eagle Athletics Hall of Fame, as announced by the university Monday.
Mike Curry (men's basketball). Ellis "Butch" Glover (baseball), Nicole LaFollette (women's volleyball), and Candace Swann (women's track and field) will join the Hall.
In addition to the Hall of Fame ceremony, UC will recognize coach Rick Meckfessel and members of the 1966-67 men's basketball team, who advanced to the NAIA Final Four and are celebrating the 50-year anniversary of that feat. The university also will retire the No. 34 jersey of Henry Dickerson in a formal ceremony prior to the Hall of Fame induction. Dickerson becomes just the fifth Golden Eagle to have their jersey retired in University of Charleston/Morris Harvey history.
A formal induction ceremony, as part of 2017 University of Charleston homecoming, will take place Friday, Oct. 6 on the UC campus. Tickets to the event are still available and can be purchased by calling University of Charleston Athletics at 304-357-4820. Tickets include entry into the Hall of Fame induction ceremony along with dinner.
