The West Virginia State softball team swept a doubleheader from Glenville State 3-0 and 2-1 Monday in Institute.
In the opener, Brookelyn Hale drove in Kayleigh Thompson with a single for the Yellow Jackets in the third. Later in the inning Madison Rafuson drove in Brittany Allison and Hale with a single.
Winning pitcher Emily Thompson and Allyson Burgess combined for the shutout. Burgess picked up a save.
In game two, the Yellow Jackets (23-15, 9-17) tied the score at 1-1 in the sixth, when Shian Meeks hit a home run to left. In the ninth, Meeks hit a walk-off double, driving in Kayleigh Thompson.
Yellow Jackets starter Amanda McDonald gave up a run and seven hits over six innings, striking out six. Calli Norton picked up the win in relief.
The Yellow Jackets next face UC tomorrow in Institute.

WVU MEN'S SOCCER: WVU men's soccer coach Marlon LeBlanc announced that eight players signed to play for the Mountaineers next season.
The class consists of defender Rayan Bahri of Chelsea, Mich.; defender Kevin Morris from Sykesville, Md.; forward Spenser Myers from Chicora Pennsylvania; Jorge Quintanilla of Germantown, Md.; midfielder Cade Remy of Johnstown, Ohio; forward Thomas Shepherd from Cheshire, England; midfielder/forward Tsubasa Takada from Narashino City, Japan; and goalkeeper Steven Tekesky of Raymore, Mo.

WENDY'S AMATEUR GOLF: Philip Reale II of Charleston posted a 74 at the Wendy's Amateur Tour event Monday at The Resort at Glade Springs.
Michael Koreski, who shot 75, and Landon Perry, who shot 76, finished just behind Reale.
In the Men's Division, Keith Palmer won low gross with a round of 77. Mark White, who shot low round of the day at last week's senior series at Berry Hills, shot an 80 and finished second in the Men's Division. Low net in the Men's Division went to Derek Ford of Gay, who shot a net 68.
In the Women's Division, Karen Rainey of Daniels and Claytina Shepherd of Beckley both posted 89 to tie for the win.
