The University of Charleston traveled to Mercer County and escaped with a 36-23 win over Concord in Mountain East Conference football play Saturday. Both teams end the day at 2-3 overall and 2-3 in the MEC.
The Golden Eagles scored in each quarter, with Marvin Elam tallying 139 rushing yards and three scores, while Tevion Cappe contributed 130 rushing yards. Quarterback Brant Grisel tossed for 124 yards, with a score and an interception.
UC's Bryce Hankins pulled in the TD catch on a 46-yard scoring strike.
Concord was led by Brian Novak's 256 passing yards while hitting on 19 of 34 attempts. The Mountain Lions' Paul Jones hauled in a 14-yard pass for a score.
The Falcons (4-1, 3-1) scored 13 unanswered fourth-quarter points to pull out the road win. DJ Greene and BJ Baldwin scored fourth-quarter TDs on a 1-yard run and a 44-yard pass, respectively, to provide the difference.
Quarterback Malik Grove paced Notre Dame with 351 passing yards and four TDs while adding 100 rushing yards on 23 carries. Greene finished with 79 yards on the ground, while Mitchell Shegos hauled in 11 passes for 266 yards and three scores.
For Glenville (3-2, 3-2), Dante Roberts threw three TD passes to Dante Absher and a single TD pass to Austin Ratliff en route to 325 passing yards.
After falling behind in just under two minutes of play, The Falcons (5-0, 4-0) scored early and often in rolling to the home win. Fairmont scored 27 first-half points and added 14 more in the third quarter while holding Urbana (1-4, 1-4) scoreless after the first eight minutes of the game to pull away.
Falcons quarterback Cooper Hibbs tossed for 240 yards and two scores, while running back James Oliver tallied 127 rushing yards and a score. Rakeem Darden also contributed a TD run for Fairmont.
For Urbana, Trevon Saunders and Tajuan Green each scored first quarter TDs.
