WEST LIBERTY - West Liberty quarterback Dakota Conwell threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Anton McCallum with 29.7 seconds left in the game to lift the Hilltoppers to a 28-24 home victory over West Virginia Wesleyan in Mountain East Conference football Thursday night.
The Hilltoppers sealed the victory when Logan Deri intercepted Bobcat quarterback Ryan Deal with 12 seconds left for West Liberty, now 2-3 overall and 2-2 in league play.
West Liberty erased a 17-point deficit after Wesleyan (1-4, 1-4) raced out to a 17-0 lead at halftime, The Hilltoppers scored 14 points in the third quarter to get back in the game.
Conwell rushed for 94 yards on 17 carries for West Liberty and Tyriq Dorsett carried six times for 88 yards and a touchdown. For Wesleyan, Michael Anderson led the way with 141 rushing yards on 28 attempts with two touchdowns.
