Dante Roberts hit D.J. Williams from 21 yards out for the go-ahead touchdown with 25 seconds to play to lift Glenville State to a 35-28 victory over the University of Charleston at I.L. & Sue Morris Stadium in Glenville.
The loss drops the Golden Eagles to 0-3 in the Mountain East Conference.
After watching a 21-7 first-quarter lead evaporate before halftime, UC tied the game at 28-all with 2:27 remaining when Tevion Cappe hauled in a 54-yard touchdown pass from Brant Grisel. That left more than enough time for Roberts to engineer the winning drive.
Roberts completed 25 of 45 passes for 252 yards and three scores. He also had a 10-yard TD run. Williams pulled in five catches for 147 yards and all three touchdowns.
For the Golden Eagles, Marvin Elam gained 61 yards on 11 carries, including a pair of touchdowns. Joey Augustin had three catches for 38 yards and a score. Turnovers proved costly for UC, which threw five interceptions.
Trevon Saunders caught two scoring passes from Cale Burdyshaw, including the game-winner in the third quarter for the visiting Blue Knights (1-2).
Jeff Ziemba hit on 21 of 28 passes for 355 yards and four TDs for the host Rams (3-0). C.J. Davis had six catches for 154 yards and two scores.
Malik Grove completed 14 of 22 passes for 213 yards and four scores for the Falcons (3-0), and Marvelle Ross returned a punt for a TD.
