The University of Charleston softball team's Atlantic Regional first-round game against Lock Haven - a game pushed from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday because of rain and delayed 105 minutes between the fifth and sixth innings because of rain - was postponed to 10 a.m. Friday because of rain.
The Golden Eagles and Bald Eagles will resume the game in the top of the 10th inning, both teams scoreless.
The winner of this game will face Kutztown on Friday. The sixth-seeded Golden Bears (32-15) advanced in the winners' bracket with a 5-4 comeback win over No. 3-seed West Chester. The loser heads to the losers' bracket to play West Chester on Friday.
The two teams combined for just six hits, three each, through nine innings. Lock Haven pitcher Bekah Slattery has struck out 11, while UC's Alli Burdette and Jessie Rowe have combined to strike out 10.
In the early game, West Chester tagged Kutztown for four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Neither team would score again until the seventh, when Kutztown exploded for five runs against three West Chester pitchers. The Golden Ram pitchers hit a batter to bring one run in and were penalized on an illegal pitch to score another. Sara Keeny went 3 for 4 with an RBI for Kutztown.
