University of Charleston women’s coach Will Johnson was named the Mountain East Conference Golf Coach of the Year.
Also for the Golden Eagles, Kelli Garrett, a former Chapmanville standout, was named to the All-MEC second team with Lauren Crause and Ashley Windsor both earning honorable mention.
MARSHALL GOLF
Marshall finished seventh in the Conference USA women’s championship in Fort Myers, Florida.
The Herd matched its highest finish in 11 seasons in the league.
Freshman Ylva Forslund finished the highest individually for the MU, tying for 16th place. Junior Pimrawee Huang had Marshall’s best day at 1-over 73, finishing tied for 23rd.
MARSHALL TENNIS
Marshall will begin play in the Conference USA women’s tennis tournament Thursday at Murfreesboro, Tennessee, as the No. 5 seeded Herd plays 12 seed Florida Atlantic.
Marshall enters play with a 10-10 overall record and is 2-2 in league play. Junior Derya Turhan leads the Herd with a 14-3 record at the No. 1 singles position.
